Retired International Trade Specialist: NH Department of Resources and Economic Development Office of International Commerce

Paula (Polly) was an International Trade Specialist during her years with the New Hampshire Office of International CommercePaula Newton EIB Exeutive Account Manager and is a NASBITE Certified Global Business Professional. In her various positions with the ITRC she was responsible for assisting New Hampshire companies with seeking international trade opportunities, export logistics and documentation issues. Polly worked closely with the International Training Manager and other professional staff at the ITRC in developing and conducting training seminars in all areas of international trade from the very basics to industry and country specific subjects. She and some of the early staff served as mentors to participants in their highly regarded and first of its kind International Trace Certificate course.

Polly also managed the NH International Trade Resource Center Resource Library with extensive experience in the biotechnology, medical devices, and clinical diagnostics industry segments.

Prior to joining the Office of International Commerce in 1997, Polly held increasingly responsible positions at Millipore Corporation, Bedford, MA. Beginning her career at Millipore as Research Associate in Microbiology she helped develop and test many of the leading Millipore filter products used for the analysis of medical, environmental and industrial liquids and gases. She also served at Millipore as Technical Services Representative where she was responsible for assisting customers solve their critical filtration and production problems with a variety of pharmaceutical products and biological agents. When Millipore formed its Biomedical Division Polly joined the group as a founding member and was Technical Research Manager involved with research and development of the company’s first clinical diagnostics product line. She was a Project Team member for the electrophoresis products and helped establish some of the first customer trial locations in New England, Texas, and other parts of the country. She was also responsible for FDA compliance for intended use, labeling and production.
